Objetives Aleppo jews Center
To create a comprehensive historical collection that faithfully reflects the ancient Aleppine (Halabi) Jewish community and its heritage, and the significant contribution of this important chapter in Jewish life to Jewish history in Israel and the far reaches of the Diaspora.
To engage in primary research of the history of the Aleppine Jewish community and its satellite communities from a historical, economic, social, religious, cultural, and intellectual perspective, placing the emphasis on its role as a deep-rooted community that, for generations, produced great rabbinic scholars whose works, and halakhic and philosophical teachings, enriched Jewish culture, as well as eminent social and economic figures who made a significant contribution to Israel and to humanity.
To cultivate the Aleppine Jewish heritage in the context of the fostering of ethnic cultures in the reborn state of Israel.
The Center’s founders are guided by the belief that cultivation and preservation of the splendid heritage of the Aleppine Jewish community for this and future generations is essential to the study of Jewish history and to the perpetuation of Jewish spiritual-cultural wealth.
